The Fall

Contributed by invierno on Thursday, 16th March 2017 @ 12:58:28 AM in AEST
Topic: surreal

Oxford leather slaps mahogany-
no apology of echo to stares.

Jagged Man enters,
Hermes tie

Windsor Gordian throat askance;

the nerve of that chest hair!

Sharded
glass fingertips erase lips
strung taut as grey sails breaching a
pin striped squall line.

Unspoken mandate,

stronger than any silence,
beaded eyes, measured suited crocodiles ticking to
an unforgivably visible carotid pulse.

This, after the fall.

(Earth DID rush UP to meet him, he now knew. It/'/s true,
It comes to us; we don/'/t go to it}.

Before the Fall;

When his back and chest bore no round scar
of pin oak waiting at the bottom of the gorge,

Composed Man roiled behind his ceramic mien;
year month week day minute second;

fresh on dawn for life,

shackled blind mind fiercely commanding soldierly fingers
to Gordian war;

daily, anew.

Today? The perfect Windsor knot?

This surreal poem made me think of that embarrassment in DC and the wars that might be pending. Including the anarchy in our own streets. Regardless, great write!

We find ourselves only through struggle and adversity. It gives our narrow existence dimensions and we learn to take up space in the world!
The shallow and callow is embodied in your closing line.
It reminds me of how fragile the secluded are.
I find a face with a scar or two have more interesting things to say.
If you have many secrets my dearest ones, do come and sit next to me! Well done! softer ware
