[hometext] => It/'/s so frightening how humans age. We all were born to die, but the speed with which we age is mysterious. How short the life is.....
[bodytext] => The Speed of Life
a little cry in the ward
announcing the birth of a new life
piecing the ears of everyone
Mother and child cry
Midwives grinning
smiles on everybody/'/ faces
In Africa, some frown
black, they call them witches
The priest sprinkles water
Baptism to cleanse
and protect from the world
So dark no one sees
Thru the days
the teeth grew
the parents are happy
Then they go off
Cos they they are /'/milk/'/
First day in school
a myriad of new faces
Everything is simple
an unimaginable love
just in a blink
yesterday/'/s baby is in teenage
then he feels the parents are wicked
hitting every of their words
just like bricks he needs to crush
high school is over
he becomes an undergraduate
The university, a land of freedom
experimenting with all his thoughts.....
People came around
It/'/s graduation
A new life began
The real life, called reality...a "man"
toiling everyday to make ends meet
/'/Hustling/'/ to keep his head afloat
Trying hard to be responsible
new friends
new colleagues
new family
now he/'/s a parent...
A party...for retirement
Losing teeth again
the Doctor became his friend
Old age diseases
the energetic being becomes soft
The two legs turned three
The stick his third
Just another blink
a painful cry, sad faces
They gather at his grave
A dirge
Just like yesterday
He speeds through life
at a pace he never imagines
Life is a /*****/
We live to die and die to live
In the speed of life, we/'/re all gone
only remembered by what we do.

Your words could not be truer. Im experiencing the midpoint of your piece right now in my life with teenagers. Great piece and keep up the great work.

A true and descriptive unfolding of life. I have spent 7/8 of my life and can relate to all of your story.
But I have to say I am grateful that we dont have the lifespan of a butterfly, or the pregnancy of an elephant!
Your last line is one of life great truths; we are only remembered for what we do.
