Innocence Repeated

Contributed by softerware on Saturday, 20th January 2018 @ 01:52:42 AM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

She didn’t ask to come along;
But now the time has come;
She looks to you as brave and strong;
To show her how its done.

What goes up again comes down;
Trust not the winding turns;
From blackness of uncertainty;
To blinding light she learns!

Pulled and thrown and thrashed about;
With death so near it seems;
Upside down and inside out;
Ignore the deafening screams.

Be brave and smile; stay in denial;
In a sea of strangers;
Protect the child from horrors wild;
She knows not of the danger.

Though indescreet, in haste retreat;
Among those who survived.
A horror you would not repeat;
Yet grateful you’re alive.

Hard to believe, one so naive;
Could bring me to my knees:
“Can we ride it one more time?”
“Can we grandma, please?”

I LOVE this, Soft. You have woven your magic once again. I think it/'/s about time for that second volume!

The last stanza pulled a fast one on us.............
Great write. I remember fear as a child- you tend just to freeze in place not knowing how to proceed- lol............. Lovely write ;)

this is wonderful!
So they sit and see the older
folks watch the relics of old movie
where the younger were young
And where do they go where
They say being a grand parent keeps
one alive and young but still
it is no crux to watch and live
vicariously;
In any real world
in any real sense, the meaning
of repeating
At least one should make
it, something in a life
As such, a hopeful
endeavor in some respect

all the time you are faced with
this classification of age
starts so early,
Like a march with
tiny feet

A generation of time.

I really like this.
A repetition that comes
with a warning

Peace!
