Mending Honesty

Contributed by WellEyeDo on Monday, 19th February 2018 @ 04:36:18 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

I/'/ve been avoiding compromise
Perpetuate and bite down
Stand against the meaningless
Blind to the scheme of things
Now my ego over rides my heart
I create my own prison
Then demand you to change
Like you are the reason I break
Growing so angry
Because its not my intention
I still hold purity at heart
It/'/s my soul I draw into question
It seems, the seams are pulling apart
A light confronted with dark
Am I crazy or just broken
Choking on an ocean of empty
Like I/'/m drowning in nothing
Because blame is such a funny thing
Only saught out
When I know I/'/m at fault
I am sorry for that
Just know I/'/m still trying
And stand ready to fight
Armed with clarity
I/'/ll venture the storm
Through the darkest of nights
With this thread that you cling to
I/'/ll weave you a rope
Stitch up the heart ache
To give back hope

The last stanza reigned in the poem and took a good bit of the darkness away. Great job!

this is so amazingly real
written in this type of voice
that seems like consciousness
when you allow strange things
you never seen in, how can
you trust them, when you
hold no real context, and
you might not truly know
what you are dealing with

what is right about anything,
like in a big city and it is
raining or half raining half
snowing, and maybe you
are kind of lost first time
being in the city, a big
city anyplace in this big
world, or is it a small one
if you study its geography
first before you go, but
who could ever be
primed to study an
unplanned visit
But you can not
just blankly say
that/'/s everything
and you don/'/t here
I don/'/t think that
is what you describe
in this poem at all
Compromise is difficult
even when you think
you know the geography
things that change for
the good over time
never really seem
to point out all
the things that
created the change
that found a way
to come about
And sometimes
it can seem to be
like a mystery
still unsolved
like taking that
first step might
take biting down
hard feeling
like you just might
regret it
I guess in
the corporate
world you have
lawyers and all
but not so much
in a small privately
held business
you know there
is this feeling
of becoming saturated
with mistakes and
making the wrong
move to the wrong
people who will
take complete
advantage of you
If you give even
an inch, they will
sure as sunder
take a mile or
everything you
might hold.

And just who
is going to
catch them,
us, if we fail
Is failing allowable
If you are one
who bites down
hard to compromise
it seems like
you are easily
trusted, or maybe
your just saying
that holding back
from a rue
that will take
place soon
already taking
the blame

I hear people
all the time talking
loud into their cell pones
on airplanes
they got this or
that guy they
feel they can
they got lots
of things
they feel
they can sell
like Tony Soprano
in the Soprano/'/s
Joe Piscopo, born 1951
runs for a Senate
seat from the
great Italian state
of New Jersey
or some murph

Or how does
Costco get all
those truckloads
of tasty wholesome
foods you have to buy
in large quantities

I have no idea man
buy I liked James
Gandolfini born in 1961

The last line really sells this piece. This is so emotional and relatable. I love it
