The Heart of Thee

Contributed by spike on Saturday, 10th March 2018 @ 05:26:40 AM in AEST
Topic: obsession

of all the treasures lost at sea,
I yearn to get my hands on thee

diamonds, rubies, precious gems,
stolen by the weatherís whims
gold and silver, bullion bars,
the lost hopes of grizzled tars.

coins in bony hands of kings,
still grasping dreams in their demise;
rings and pearls and brilliant things,
eliciting both awe and sighs

and you my dear, precious still,
I just canít seem to get my fill;
but all the sparkling things above,
will never win to me your love

of all the treasures birthed by sea,
I ache to win the heart of thee.

what a splendid poem to launch a comeback to YPDC. Written from the soul of romance...From a time past, when courtship was an art form, and love a treasure not taken lightly.
Thank you for taking us back to a sweeter and more innocent vintage that yielded a robust appreciation of partnership.

Wow...this is to cool for school.

Wonderful, wonderful choice of words.

You have a gem here, Spike.

This poem is like a diamond on the edge of perfection, and the cutter sat down his tool to answer the door, then got lost in conversation and put the diamond in the display case, forgetting that perfection was just a few more facets requiring attention.

Unless a complete disregard for tools such as commas, periods, etc. are omitted by design, I grade this an S2 (in diamond-speak).

Bravo and keep them coming. This was magnificent.

?there is some punctuation, but sometimes grammatical completeness kills rhythm - hence the cadence and stanza breaks, in lieu of a complete set of full stops and commas.
