Woefully Unaware

Contributed by jamesstockdale on Thursday, 15th March 2018 @ 05:14:41 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

In my sleep I/'/m woefully unaware
I/'/m running my fingers through your finely stranded hair
Even though you/'/re no longer there
In my sleep my emotions run ever so deep
Within the still calmness reality does creep
The ghostly scent of your pleasantly sweet perfume
Permeates my ever lonely room
When I awake the emptiness turns to gloom
Your side of the bed is empty
My thoughts soon turn to dread
In my dreams I was woefully mislead
At this point
Nothing more needs to be said

Sad but true
in dreams
there are such lovely scenes but
then we wake up

Your poem reminds me that none of us can escape our memories. Your description paints a scene very clearly! I can visualize your story, and that puts me right in the middle of it, hoping it will end well.
A very engaging rhyme, James, and a central theme to many of your best poems.
Apparently, lament is becoming on you! Write it for all its worth!

the first calmness
came after a fiery day
there I was cloaked
physically and mentally
broken down,
where I dreamt
alone, or with
a connection
of another that
perfectly fit
And how are
things situated
I thought once
I awoke
But I am not
wishing to be
awake, but
awake I must
We wouldn/'/t
say we were saved
Like so much
unless we knew
it was true

this is me, thinking
about my own wife
and I had always wondered
about that, never wanting
to marry as I had

when we first met
I would find it so hard
to stay the night
it never seemed right
until one day it did.

// Seems I missed a lot in 2018. That was indeed a bad year for me.

I`ve got something to say. They`re just not worth it!!!

Yeah, that`s what I say today. That`s something I`ll stick to for ten minutes.

Nicely done, TimmyJimmy.

Thank you,
