Why must we write long into the night?
What is it we need to convey?
Be it hope, be it rage;
At times were amazed;
At the words spilling out on the page.

We follow our souls
Down silent black holes.
Composing when no one is there.
Observed unaware by a room full of chairs;
While the walls tap their fingers and stare.

Art can be lonely;
A one way gift only;
Left on an altar of stone;
Touching the dreams of strangers unseen;
Who wonder how we could have known.

So much wisdom and experience in such a short write. I can/'/t figure out if writing is a gift or a plague? Many deliberately write and craft their works with love and pride while others are tortured by what is streamed into their head. Like
a trapped animal that needs to be released from a cage.
Often I wonder if they are a voice for those no longer here. Acting as a medium. Especially the truly unskilled writer who just jotted down a masterpiece otherwise incapable of doing so.
Nothing better than a poem that brings about intrigue.
That is what we have here!

many good questions...I wonder about it when I have a poem flowing in my mind and through out the day I write over and over til it is to be released....why?...hmm I am still trying to figure that out as I write all alone at 2 and 3 am in the night/mornings.

great title and the poem
flows well with it.
Surely something to think
deeply about.

well done!
I will try and carry your words
with me as best I can, knowing
deep down I really should.

I really loved this! Especially loved the image of your walls tapping their fingers!

Sometimes the poems just write themselves. I often have poetry composing itself while I/'/m working at my job - I keep a notebook handy just in case.
This was a really wonderful write.
