Nursery Rhyme for Beginners

Contributed by spike on Monday, 9th September 2019 @ 12:23:58 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

the darkest night you choose to light,
at any time you may take flight.
beneath a friendship arch we stand,
and if you choose to drop my hand,
or quench our incandescent flame
—well right you are, and none’s to blame.

or if my bitterness should ever rile,
then you may ‘wander’ for a while;
and if of me you are in doubt,
then you may choose the quick way out.

if I die before I wake,
I pray for you my soul to take:
and if it’s not as it should be,
then you can fling it back at me.
and if on street in pain’s despair,
then you may choose to leave me there.

the darkest night you choose to light…

Yes it does. This was great and the picture superb.
What a great piece. Took me back to those days :)

I read your poem and then James` poem. So smooth and fluid with great flow which you didn`t miss a beat. Almost like old YPDC! It felt great to be home for a moment. They flowed right into each other. What a great segue. Thank you, really, thanks.

Hmmm Friendship?, seems a bit more intense than that. Overall it/'/s a great piece, flows well with good rhythm.

That being said it makes me feel sad that you are so willing to let them just take the quick way out. Sounds like today/'/s ghosting, great for casual acquaintances, but in my opinion not cool when it comes to friendships and above.
Ah well, just a me thing, your piece just brought on a vent...and that/'/s a good thing.

It sounds more like
the constant thought
that was never a fairy tale
at all for me.
It/'/s not a fairy tale,
at all,

but I was lucky
growing up the youngest
of ten kids where the dad
left early on,
and there was only a mom
who had to work.

So they penciled in how
wrong I was, they schooled
me all the while they were
just trying to school themselves

and it hurt me emotionally
but I always knew at the same time
they were in the same boat
as me.

but that/'/s me.
romantic love is a different animal
one that first you have to feel
and suss out because the damn
thing is ridiculousness
plain and simple.

don/'/t ever expect too much
from another person.

Just be your darn self.
Something like that
sounds good to someone
And then your screwed
for life.

like a born romantic.

Hi Spike - I see you/'/ve not lost your mojo.

My story goes back a little further than yours - 1971 but
not too dissimilar to the heart and mind torture that you
very expertly and succinctly spread before us here.
The purists would say ..... /'//'/get over it, man!/'//'/ ...... but that/'/s why they/'/re called purists, analytical thought not part of their raison d/'/etre.
Take a bow, old chap!
