Do You Love Me

Momma Do You Love Me

Child, I dont know what I am going to do with you.
I tell you to do one thing and you do two.
Why wont you do what I say, so I wont holler
at you everyday?
Cause momma the only way you talk to me is
when I do something wrong, otherwise you ignore
me the whole day long.
Well, I can not just sit and jabber with you, I got things
I need to do. Besides, you be in your own world
doing what you like to do.
But momma do you still love me, tell me do!
What you ask me something silly like that for,
what is it you want to do?
I want to sit on your lap and hear you sing to me
like you use to do before.
Child you eight goin on nine, you can not sit on
no lap of mine.
Momma do you still love me like I love you?
Go on now before I take my shoe off to you.
Oh, I should have held him and told him too, now it may
be too late since that bullet flew.
"Oh Lord I pray, please do not take my child from me,
it is not his fault that bullet can not see."
Hold on my child, momma is here and I am going to
sing to you like I use to do.
"My baby , my baby you will always be the love of my life.
I am gonna love you forever and ever with all my might.
From the top of your head to the bottom of your feet
you will always be precious to me."
My baby, just relax now and rest awhile.
I love you too momma as he smiled and forever closed
his eyes.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
