Lost Luggage Land

Contributed by softerware on Wednesday, 29th July 2020 @ 06:28:53 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

What happens to lost baggage
after three months time?
Itís all bought by one company
(and yes, their storeís on line!)

They buy unseen by contract
when our luggage turns up missing.
Designer bags to wedding rings,
repurposingís their mission.

Unclaimedbaggage dot com
buys luggage by the score.
Sorts it, cleans it, donates it,
or sells it in their store.

They donít know what theyíre getting
rattlesnakes to picture frames;
Chanel, Vuitton, or Tiffany;
anything unclaimed.

The DOT counts instances
of who loses most you know.
Most airlines do a good job,
but as lost luggage goes:
for every thousand passengers,
Skywest loses six.
Delta only loses one.
Depends on who we pick.

If your antique ringís for sale,
and you can confirm it;
Your option is to buy it -
The store will not return it.

Really quite amazing
the stuff that travelers pack.
If itís a priceless heirloom,
and we expect it back,

Perhaps weíd better ship it,
and insure it to be sure.
When Unclaimed Baggage gets it,
itís not ours anymore!

A great lesson here. I never knew ANY of that!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
