The Weakly Week

Contributed by softerware on Saturday, 1st August 2020 @ 04:56:46 AM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

Monday always comes too fast.
Starts too early, and outlasts
my patience and my dignity at
working full-time, steadily.

Tuesday’s just a bridge we cross,
when hump day’s next and Monday’s lost.
We vow to deadlines we can’t keep,
in meetings when we’re half asleep.

Wednesday is 8 hours uncharted.
Too late to get a project started.
Not enough to get one done.
There’s no time for either one.

Thursday is the day we plan
for after work on Friday, and
we’ll leave early if we dare.
Even change our underwear.

Friday is just full of glee!
Late to work, and leave early!
Making plans for fun tonight,
We/'/ll be sleeping in alright!

Saturday we’re late to rise.
Hangover and bloodshot eyes.
Family want us home for dinner.
Then to church with all those sinners.

Sunday we will catch the flu.
Stay in bed with you-know who.
Close the bar with late night caps,
Monday we can catch a nap.

All of us remain inspired,
counting years til we’re retired.
When we have no dues to pay,
and our check comes anyway.

You pegged the truth with this one!
these days, and especially lately,
your words hit the mind of actuality
that takes itself off into the future
of another weak week forget the
We don/'/t think of years
in such a way, they just happen.
I guess human capital means everybody.
The good, the implicit, the explicit possible
in everyone.

Thanks for reminding me of this reality on a Saturday Night!

Beautiful, tight, sing-songy rhyme scheme. It/'/s great!
