Fear of Silence

Contributed by purplestary on Friday, 21st August 2020 @ 12:20:01 AM in AEST
Topic: abstract

I look around at what remains of a life lived fast,
of love lost, and faded dreams..
and I find mere songs,
soundtracks that still echo the same damn questions.
"lets see how far we/'/ve come" falls meaningless onto the empty canvas now.
But I remember the feeling that I was almost there...
I was on a journey to find myself..
and little did I know, I was letting go.
each piece that fell made not a sound..
my mom always told me I played the music too loud..
I was trying to drown out the demons though...
I didn/'/t know that disowning the darkness
would erase the road to the light...

Now I fear my life is halfway over and...
i/'/m still torn between who I think I am,
and who I used to be But...
I know that who i/'/m meant to be
is still hiding in the darkness..
lost without the light, She/'/s waiting for the moment
that the music stops...
Silence is deadly for broken souls like mine,
but maybe it/'/s time...
time to face the fear of all the unknown
sounds and screams that will echo through
the emptiness of a space and time void of a melody.

But I remember the feeling that I was almost there...

We all suffer this.....
I could be 50x ahead of where I thought I should be and
I/'/d still feel like somehow I blew it.
Is that our way of telling us to overachieve?
If it is that can be damaging in itself.
Many women however place self-worth on being married and having children. We are all good at torturing ourselves..
Very thought provoking write!!!!!!!!!
