Pornography and Coke

Sick of these modern times
Where fake and plastic are
Associated with beauty
And modesty dismissed as
nothing more than naivety
Has elegance and grace been lost? Been drowned
In a sea of Botox and silicon?
Can an ounce of integrity be salvaged
From a generation of plastic beauties?
A world impure and blinded
By infomercials and advertisements
A world deafened
By the tainted voices of movie stars
A world muted
By the president and his army of politicians
Told how to think
How to act
How to look
How to feel.
Conformed to their ideals
A world we let become surreal
So we turn our heads and try to forget
Look at the victims
And we regret
That our hands graced the handle
Around the knife's blade
That cut at the innocence
While our own quickly fades
These modern times are sickening
And the guilt is only starting to soak
And so we cry and drown our tears
In pornography and Coke.
