I want to go back and change a thing or two
I want to recreate the past, if only for you
Oh! That you might remember something sweet
In case there’s a chance we never again meet
I’ll overwrite that last day to change the way
You think of me when you remember today

I want to go back and change a thing or two
I want to be stronger and braver for you
I want you to see me as something more
Then the pathetic girl standing at your door
I’d alter history if I could, only so you would
Remember me as being daring and good

I want to go back and change a thing or two
I want to be more kind and real with you
If I had known that tomorrow wouldn’t come
I would have been more beautiful, more fun
I want to rewind it now, to redo it somehow
So warm thoughts of me you could allow

I want to go back and change a thing or two
I want to have been more together for you
If only I could have held my head up high
It would be better if you never saw me cry
It’s now too late, but more than anything I hate
That you’ll recall me in this desperate state
