[bodytext] => At last I’ve arrived with the luggage I lug. A knapsack of beer and a “GO CHARGERS” mug. No one to answer to! Just peace and quiet! Two days of anti-establishment diet! Gone, as in WENT, as in “I’m outta here!” No clock or computer, no emails my dear! (Oh lucky me, they’re connected to wi-fi)! What part don’t you get when someone goes “Bye Bye”? Computers and phones; they’re leashes from hell. Why do you think they call it a “cell”? (They’ve thoughtfully furnished a phone and a desk)! It’s ringing already! (so much for my rest!) What time do I want my wake-up call? How ‘bout when New Years comes in the Fall? Don’t send me breakfast or knock at my door! It’s inside my eyelids I’ve come to explore! I threw the remote out and vowed to ignore the newspaper sliding under my door! (What were they thinking to leave me an iron?) Rumpled and wrinkled is my kinda fine! Take back your hairdryer!! Take back the board! If I don’t like the bed; I’ll sleep on the floor! There’s a fortune in pencils and post cards alone! (I’ll be sure to write you when I get back home…) I threw out the magazines, closed all the blinds; Hid the alarm clock and hung out a sign! Quiet! I’m sleeping! Do not disturb; I pulled out my stash and lit up an herb; Just when I settled my head for a nap the housekeepers sneaked in and put stuff all back! There’s just no escape from life’s virtual intrusion. So I opened the fridge for a shotglass of sooth’in; But four mini bottles left me no debaser. Even with three cans of beer as a chaser! BAM! the alarm rings! It’s morning, and yes;— Here comes the best part: Checkout Express! Welcome dear traveler. How long must you stay? Put up and pay up and be on your way! Checkout on time or else you’ll pay double! Doors slamming everywhere! Boy we’re in trouble! Gotta move fast, so downstairs I leap! Bleary-eyed, key in hand, still half asleep. Standing in line, bare to the knees; With my backpack and beer, in my best BVDs. What did I get for being on time? Security dragged me right out of line! Indecent exposure. Judge said 30 days! He offered me bail but I told him NO WAY! No maids or phones! It’s as it’s quiet as can be! With 3 squares a day and a color TV! If you crave seclusion—may I suggest a sweet little cell for a long week-end/'/ rest!
