Tallyho
I wake up from the sky’s light
And my feet hit the floor,
Out of bed, to start my day;
Don’t do coffee,
Morning news or fast grease,
Just show me the sun and I’m on my way.
I’m standing on the starting line,
A new project begins to form,
There’s so much to do;
I can’t find an extra hour
To plan, measure and cut,
All before the day is through.
Afternoon is already here,
Some parts of the day
Can crumble like unbuttered toast
But the wife and sons are coming home
And I can smell the slow cooker
Stewing on that tender pot roast.
Evening is actively restful,
Life is sprinting into night,
I reflect on what was done and what will be;
Dinner is over, balls are tossed, trees are climbed,
What a life to be living,
What an interesting journey.
