In the Eyes of my Sons
When my little boys look at me
I can tell they see
More of a man
Than I think I am.
They see an open dictionary
Stocked with words they`ve never heard,
They see a house doctor
Tending illnesses until they`ve cured.
They see the strength of superman
Without the cape and costume,
They see a masterful magician
Making toys vanish inside their room.
One day they will grow to see me
As just a man, less than a hero,
A man with flaws and failures,
Not as sharp as an arrow.
A man they did not see
When they were my little ones;
But a man that was bigger than I was
In the eyes of my sons.
