Soliloquy To An Elm
I see you clear as day.
Sky punched eyes
beneath your shaded forest brow,
your leafy jaws that sway in light
distinct from the darkened slash of mouth.
Your nose even juts in bulbous array;
Irish, by the look of you,
but the wind on pause or push
can change it any given day.
I, like you, am shade and light.
Do you see me?
Across the street?
Pondering as we do any given afternoon
when leaf, light and wind in concert meet?
