LADIES ONE AND ALL
Most of our inventions, werent planned they just befell!
But none the less, they passed the test, as far as we can tell.
For just 500 dollars, not a single royalty;
Lizzy Magie sold her board game called Monopoly.
Mary Anderson designed while her kids were still in diapers
A way to make kids carpools safe. She called them window wipers.
To make a leakproof diaper Mary Donovan was certain;
It wouldnt drip if covered with a cut up shower curtain!
Poor Betty was a typist who made lots of mistakes;
She covered them with white paint so her memos all looked great.
Gillette paid 50 million to buy Miss Grahams invention,
Her Liquid Paper hid mistakes we didn’t have to mention!
Nurse Virginia tested newborns health to earn her fame.
To honor her they used an acronym that spells her name.
Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity and Respiration.
The APGAR test is still the best and made her reputation.
A lady weaver stuck a sawblade on her spinning wheel.
The circular saw, will be recalled as Tabby Bobbitt’s deal.
Mary made a dog leash retract into a lid.
Miss Delaney’s idea led to harnesses for kids.
Chemist Patsy Sherman spilled rubber on her shoe.
3M named it Scotchguard in 1952.
While Stephie Wolek failed to make a lighter auto tire,
Five times as strong as steel we use her Kevlar under fire.
You’ll notice these advances were singularly rendered;
By the best I found possessed of the female gender.
Men you see it seems to me receive the most attention.
So stand aloof, girls heres the proof, of wise womens inventions!
