With Longing

"With Longing"

It was a time to live, a time to sieze everything that I had ever wanted
But I was over-analytical again when all I wanted to do was tell you how lovely you looked,
when all I really wanted to do was tell you how radiant you seemed to be that night
And how your eyes, that were magnified by my wine glass filled with sprite, seemed to shimmer
And be a host to the light as it danced through them both

But now it feels like I've fallen down, I've been lost in a landslide
And I want to get back to where I was, I miss our conversations so much
I miss just listening to your voice for a little while and thinking how sweet it sounded
It was like some ancient melody that had been lost through the ages,
it was like an ancient melody that had the power to right all of the wrongs

And it was always funny to watch myself pace around before I ever called,
always wondering if I was just bothering you or if you were already busy
It was always a step out of my comfort zone,
I had never felt so strongly for anyone, so I was always a little nervous
It was always a little funny...a little funny and a little sad...

And now this room, the one that always came to life with you in it,
seems so empty and lonely, there's nothing that can fill this place like you
Not the darkness nor light...not myself nor my words
And everything seems a little dimmer, everything seems a little dimmer

And I can't find the right line to express my longing, I can't find the right passionate line,
But the point of it all, the point of THIS, is to say that I've always thought you were special,
not JUST special, but something more, something words won't ever be able to say
Something only my heart can say, something only my heart can feel
So I'll drink, out of a wine glass filled with sprite, tonight to you

Here's to you
