Beginnings

A man, beneath a summer sky, sweats his contentment over rock and field. He wipes his brow, squints into the drying sun, and considers the mountains surrounding him. He begins to understand.
A woman too frail to stand, watches her daughters hand tap over the frozen, black glass of newly tuned keys. She dries her eyes, smiles, and remembers the first day she danced. She begins to face a new day.
The moment increases. A laughter burns bright white and scarlet across an empty love. The walls dry silent.
A young girl kneels, and faces her first fear. Her mother hemorrhages, cries out, crushes her hand. She, kisses her mothers brow, couples tears, and does not speak. She begins.
