Shadows Dagger

"My life for you!? I once recall I said into the darkness.
My life for the darkness, to become one with the shadow that creeps upon your wall.
So I could slip silently into your sleeping chamber and mutilate you with a single forceful blow from the shadows dagger of fear.

My once true love is nevermore, as he lay slain upon the floor
his essence coursing red and dark
from his dying wounds.

His pain is over now and mine is soon to come to an end.
For as I am the shadow
it is killing me inside and I am possessed to do what I never thought I would.

As I take this shining dagger and put it to my throat I think
what will death be like for me as I am??
Well never mind this roadblock on the path to my king, my husband, the one to whom I will always belong.

I now am slipping into the dark as my hands move of their own accord
slitting what held me together,
my last link to the world of ours this prison of a soul who wishes to fly free.

And now the shadow finds me,
leading me into a world of everlasting darkness and
I am glad, rejoicing in my apprehensiveness to become one with the darkness.

My life for you? I recall shouting in my final moments in this vile prison still
basking, bathing, swimming,
in my newfound darkness.
