It's the snowflakes that spark My memory. The dancing white flakes Doing ballet. Swooping and swirling, Twisting and twirling. Perfectly landing onto a head, A meadow of dirt colored string. Painting a picture Of beauty and grace, Slowly and swiftly Melting down to his face. Determined and manly Seeming to soften a bit. Silently moving to fire filled eyes, Icing them slowly To reveal lighter browns, Hints of hazel could be seen Through the cracks. The flakes one by one fell down From the face where they hide And cover the roads. Creating a mirage Of blank cotton candy. Once inside The snow flakes follow in, Dropping like bombs into, A dark pool. Instantly floating Like little cubed bouys. Our young tender lips gently touch The rim of the glass, With the same gentleness as the flakes Landing on his head. Sip by sip the bathtub drains, No more flakes enter the pool And pretty soon the chocolatey water is gone. He stands on his deck, As I skip down the road, To my home. Watching the white puffy clouds Swooping and swirling, Twisting and twirling, Dancing around me, Dropping like bird's crap onto his head. Happiness; beauty, filling the streets. That's my favorite part of winter.

"Dropping like bird's crap onto his head." i believe thats the only time i will ever read that in a poem, so very original. ::backs away slowly:: lol. you had a lot of metaphores in this to dress it up. im not one that likes imagery, but for all those that do, you painted the perfect picture. which is not a part of poetry that many can do. impressing, but i rather like fall better =]

The "Only" thing? lol, if this isn't your favorite season (like it is mine) then I can only imagine how much imagery you could provide for one of the other three! I'm a sucker for winter poetry for some reason, and this was no exception. I agree with Jen, lol that brid's crap line was quite unique and unexpected, and I must say, this is one poem packed with images of winter and fanciful (sp?) things..lol. It was admirable to say the least. Excellent piece I might add! |
