Dusty Book

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Thursday, 14th July 2005 @ 06:36:03 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

Dusty book...
We found on that old shelf
you bought at an auction years ago.

Dusty book...
Long forgotten
Found your name wrote inside the cover
You never realized
did you Mother?
What a treasure for me
it would be
to someday find that dusty book.

You held that story of intrigue
in your hands
Passed some hours away
reading that book.

I'm going to read this novel,
I found
That once belonged to you
I'll travel where you went
in your minds view.
Glad to have found that
dusty book...
I have another piece
of you.

An actual part of her that she had touched and read and pondered over. What a precious treasure you have there.

Your write made me feel like I knew you mom. The dusty book is a treasure for sure.

Not long ago, about a month now, I was going through stuff in a closet where I keep old pictures, letters, cards, knick knacks. I found a letter from my grandmother. She is in heaven right now with both my parents.

I read the letter she wrote to me when I was age 27. When I read it, it had a different meaning to it. The part that broke me down to tears was the last part she said to me.. Write me!!

Then, I took out the pictures of my mom and dad and just looked at them.. where has the time gone.. with all of them gone now, leaves me in first place... I do not like first place...

Now I know what it means to be the top.. it is truly lonely.. but I must keep alert and try to be healthy for the young ones down the line..

Your dusty book poem really see the world I once had.. with my parents and grandparents..

I am so glad you have that book.. and her signature.

Yes, I agree.. you can hold onto that book... love it.. read it and be there with you mother.

I am glad I found this poem.. its beautiful...

The book was found.. and now it is no longer forgotten.. amen..

Your mom is watching you hold onto it.. she knows.. you have long hours and travel with her until you are go to that good place where she waits for you...

Thank you for this wonderful poem... a poem.. a masterpiece for all of us to enjoy..

For all that read this poem, I hope and pray that they begin today to treasure and enjoy what little time they may have to spend with their parents and other family members.

Laura, this was incredible!! I saw in a movie recently,
how a woman was going through all her late husband's
books and reading them one by one. She said it was
a comfort to her to be holding the book and perusing
the pages where he had been.

I loved this one, DH. Beautifully sentimental. Tugged at
my heart something awful.
