A Paradise Lost

Contributed by Cynthia on Thursday, 14th July 2005 @ 11:51:18 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

A paradise lost
Through God's crying eyes,
Look what we've done
We've ruined paradise.

Mountains vastly reaching
To the Heavens above,
All created
With His love.

Sweet smelling grasses
Trees for shade,
Clear blue waters
Where we can wade.

Birds singing
Songs of love,
All given to us
From our Father above.

Animals roaming
Around the world free,
Not a worry within them
Their souls all bubbly.

Lions laying down
Beside the Lamb,
Look what we've done
To God's beautiful land.

Now all we have
Is a world filled with hate,
How do we expect to walk
Beyond the pearly gates?

I love your poem and have an understanding that may offer some answer to your final question. We are all animals and always have been. There are things that we must do in order to survive that do not jive with our idea of paradise. Perhaps we despair because our lives are so well insulated against the cold hard truth of reality.

I hope you do realize this title is already taken by one of the most famous epic poems of all time...
This poem read nicely, and it is a shame what we've done...in respect to the last line i say "Praise Jesus!", God bless.
