Palm tress and orange groves Cattle roam free As the farmland grows Corn taller Then the tip of the nose Of the beaten scarecrow Who shows no fear Of the hungry crows A utopian community Only a pure person Can truly know
Incidental woes That blemish And tarnish A reputation One could admonish Actions one should abolish From daily living From orienting With the impoverished Challenged and anguished Rely on perseverance As if despair has vanished
In the ash can Collects the remnants The bits, bolts and pieces Of whatever can be salvaged Preserved from that moment Fossilized its importance Then theorize its components
What love it must have felt To have actually had owned it

I see that you have had many reads and no comments on this poem...I thought I would be the brave one and go first.
I like this poem because I am still thinking about what it means and I keep re-reading it and finding more. A deeper meaning behind it all...good job!

Okay, each time I read this, I just keep thinking of the same two things...Florida, and a trip down memory lane...lol...I don't know...I think I'm definitely missing something here! Still enjoyable to try and decode, and I had some nice visuals reading it.
