I Am Of Two

Contributed by billy_corgan on Tuesday, 19th July 2005 @ 12:54:36 AM in AEST
Topic: abstract

aggravated by the swell
I watch birds cascade
and block out the sun
(darkness of a cave)
heavy hands lift candles
(worthless in daylight)

prepared for journey
I was
a pen to cut
a knife to write
an early grave attends this mounful spirit
as apathy can afford few friends
and I of mourning lesser

rock juts and breaks waves
(withstanding milleniums I think)
flesh dashed against rock
flesh borne neith water
(birds cannot fly forever)

misplaced steps echo
rasping in my soul
"where are you?"
promised not to cross the forge
yet jumped the gun on a burning frigate.

I pause beside the wall
here I bury the sand from my shoes
a grain is memory
it feels rhythm in the walk
"Oh Colombus you are but one!"
but I am smarter than sand
twisted its neck and beckoned for a gander
"one maybe suitable, but three is devilish, and two is exile"

I am two
all have left I alone
judge once again
waves rush over mouths
(nothing)

i think this was creepy, dark, eerie and wonderfully written. your vocabulary is superb ( you got me with that fodder...ahd to use a dictionary for that one) and your writing is also so descriptive and he mourning really comes out along with all these ideas you imput into our heads without even knowing. great job.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
