Stuck to these four walls, ancient crumbling heart of a city Debris is my feast and I eat with eyes half closed Pretending you sit across from me with your smile intact Ragged pink dress was once so fine in the window Craving attention and seeking perfection I was lost Into the world of craving what is not real Checking in at the desk I was placed under arrest Ive been waiting ever since For someone to break the bars of this prison Where boredom is poison and Im wasting my time here Thinking tomorrow is different day after day You hold out your hand but my fingers cant reach you Another mirage on the wall and you say you cant stay You have another engagement, half past the moon I stay up late and keep hoping youll come back this way Telephone rings Hello, hellobut nobody answers As walls cave in where hope used to be There was never any chance for someone like me.

Doesn't sound sad to me like. Sounds more like realization unfolding into yearning.
"Checking in at the desk I was placed under arrest"..yeah. |
