The Forgotten Theater
The curtains open and the cast swiftly appears, As the crowd stands silent and waiting. The cob webs show neglect and corrosion shows the years, That this transparent figure has been waning.
The cast is upheld only by one single girl, Outfitted in a beautiful red dress and matching red shoes. The show starts with her smile, a few moves and a twirl, As the crowd of a thousand lost souls applaud her, her due.
She is amazing in the act, as she dances and jumps abound, Though the seats are all empty and tattered. She holds the greatest smile, yet weeps rather loud, But when the show comes to the end, she gracefully bows as if nothing even matters.
The curtains hang serrated from lack of affection, And nobody cares that the stage stands rotten. All-in-all the darkness creates the deception, For the shadows to embrace the theater- all forgotten.

Clark, a perfection depiction of this site, whether you meant it for here or not. I think you were right when you used the word DOWNFALL. There is a really great site on my home page. They even have humans that do the censoring and spelling checks. The webmaster is always checking in several times a day and there are some very nice people and poets there. I hope to see you there for I think that is where I will be most of the time from now on. My best to you, my friend. Rita My username there is the same, btw. |

Clark I'm really glad you decided to post this...As I said to you earlier, I love this write. It may in fact be one of the most tragic things I've ever read...It is very melancholy, and you expressed yourself fantastically...each word, each line is perfect as far as I'm concerned. I could picture this depressing sight before my eyes as I read along, and reading it this second time, gave me chills. Very well done Clark...I think this may be your best yet. Very sad to see you leaving...

Clark, I really wish you would post once again...
This is a fantastic tribute to Jen..
I love the images in this, and the sadness behind it all. A few lines really hit me, especially in the 4th stanza.
An amazing write,
*hugs*

Wow, that was almost seven years ago. I just got finished with a PM to someone telling them I've been a member for seven years.
So, seeing as how this poem was posted around 3 1/2 months after I joined, I can see how I may have missed it. So sorry but it is truly a vast land, this ol' YPDC. I'll try and check more out.
Anyway, this is a seriously brilliant writing. Seemed so ghostly to me. The imagery of that filled my head as I read. Not sure that's what you were going for, but that's the imagery that entered this ol wearing mind.
I hope you get back in touch with essentially9 too.
Take care,
Tim |
