My Sister

Contributed by zenaprincess on Thursday, 28th July 2005 @ 01:25:14 PM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

The blood that runs
Within our veins
In many ways
Is just the same.

The past is shared,
The future sure -
Our lives entwined,
Our love secure.

My sisters beauty
Is well renowned,
A softer heart
Could not be found.

Her gifts endear her
To all she knows,
The world looks on
As she loves and grows.

Her poignant, silent
Works of art -
Her broadcast words
Heal broken hearts.

Three years younger
How was it done
That she became
The wiser one?

Her faith so strong,
Her mind so clear,
She adores all those
That she holds dear.

Across the oceans
In lands far away,
Her big sister
Thinks of her everyday.

I watch and hope,
And pray each night
That the years that pass
Will treat her right.

I miss you Tam.
Go out and play.
I hope you have
A great day today!

"Three years younger
How was it done
That she became
The wiser one?"

it brings sense of humor to the poem and makes it even brighter. great job.

This is such a beautiful tribute to your sister. I wish I had written it!! It says exactly how I feel about my younger sister who lives in Texas.
Thank you for sharing this.

I'm so glad I read this! What a truly lovely tribute to your sister...You kept a good rhyme scheme and flow, using befitting words that didn't come across forced. I really enjoyed this, and how very lucky she is to have such a wonderfully caring big sis : )

I really enjoyed this write, the flow and rhyme were wonderful, but it was the message to your sister that of course captivated me. I definitely hope that she is able to read this. To know just how deeply you care about her would most certainly make her day!
