He Asked, Tomorrow Answered

Contributed by rockergirl94 on Thursday, 28th July 2005 @ 06:19:49 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

As you painted yourself with lies
The lies of which you spoke of fondly
You gave up your heart for ransom
Convincing yourself youd never want it back
And I hope you were right
For the price of a heart can never be met.

You asked, Of what good is a heart
For it breaks, it shatters, and is stolen away
And I answered, Of what good are the heartless
For they are cold and have no soul
Watching a passing world with empty eyes
Knowing not the consequences of their actions
They partake in evil, and feel nothing
Partake in good deeds, gain nothing
How then is life any more fulfilling?

Indeed with the heart comes pain
But with the heartless comes nothing
Even a scream would be relief from the stillness
For those who have no purpose
And lay down among the dead
Whispering vacantly
I gain nothing, I feel nothing,
I have a heart shaped hole in me.
