Rat Race

~xXx~

Like a caged mouse, running on his wheel

Taunted, by a visible freedom he so desires

but cannot reach

So to, are you...

Caged and racing

Circling round and round

Pausing momentarily just to breathe...then

Frantically running again

Day in and day out

Trying to break free!

CLIMBING THE WALLS!

Only to discover......

You are exactly where you started again

Caged...by society

Part of a neverending rat race

Like a mouse, running on his wheel

Taunted by a visible freedom he so desires

but cannot obtain

Oh yeah I can relate to your angst.

I feel this all the time but sometimes we just have to stop for a moment and magic can be found in life.

Honest and moving piece.

Well done, I liked it

Oh, I can relate to this...work....*groan*
I like the format you wrote this in, with the appropriate italics, and I thought your expression was well formed also...I personally wouldn't change a thing. The picture suits this piece perfectly too, and it gave me a laugh, and....a cry....lol ; )

Splendid showcase of day to day grind just trying to survive. I love the graphic. It is exactly what it feels like sometimes. You run and run and stress and stress and still come up late and needing more. It is not the big traumas in life that wear us down, it is daily life.

I also love it Blue..
and feel your frustration too as well.
Personally, I would like to see a bit more,
reflecting the whole "enslaved animal" metaphor..
as this would be a most fitting write to use it in,
as we ALL are, at one time or another.

I do love it though, as is.
It's wonderful.
(the image as well)
a "New Yorker Magazine" feel to it..

how terrible it is to be on the inside looking out and unable to do anything about it. how do we keep from growing weary when everyday its the exact same process? i absolutely love this poem. nice!
