AN OSCAR FOR MICK!!!
For much hard work and devotion on YPDC
For those of you who don't read the forums, this is a suggestion I just posted for Mick at his Forum....
This is Lovingcritters speaking here.
I've lived 68 years and in most of that time I held
fast to His Hand.
After much prayerful thought this is what I came up with
last night and early this morning.
Please reason with me.
This message is for you Mick, primarily.......but would
like to hear what others think also?
Dear Mick,
You have been so kind to all of us here at YPDC.
I don't want to go elsewhere to post my poems,
I love it right here at your site, and one of the reasons
I do, is because of you. You are kind, thoughtful, and
ready always to help me, an old woman that has learned
so much from you.
Why do you think you should run this wonderful Poetry Site for free?
I know of no one in the whole world that has a poetry site like yours,
And I might add I know of no one that monitors as well as you do either
Why do you let the majority that want to post for nothing do so? They use
all of your site's wonderful provisions, where as there are those like
myself and others that pay regularly. I have been paying once a year
as you stated in the rules and regulations when I joined here 3 years ago
Now I don't have much to live on, I get $800/mo retirement, and that's it. But I have a wonderful son Montie that would never see me go without,
but lets say I didn't. I could still afford atleast $10/mo. That wouldn't break me and I could still eat etc.
So Mick, why don't you start charging everyone that wants to post
a flat out fee...........like $30/ to start, and then let it be understood
that we all pay $10/mo or we simply don't stay!
You have a big heart Mick, but let's face it...........Life is really tough!
And since when do you ever get anything free? Plus if it's worth paying
for, then pay for it. And your site is well worth paying for Mick.
It's time you realized that. You called it your hobby, well, it's time
for you to live a little now, with your new little family, and you
should have time to yourself, and not have to worry about YPDC
anymore....... let YPDC run itself. All of those who agree, please step forward and give a great big
HURRAY FOR MICK!

P.S. There can be exceptions made of course, like the monitors that
monitor each month..........they shouldn't have to pay since they
are taking it out in helping the site, I'm sure you can think of several
other instances Mick.........you have to have more confidence and courage
to step up to the bat and hit a homerun strike. Make it a Grand Slam........
Give each person 30 days and if they can't come up with $10/mo then they can't stay!

i thank mick, i do. when i am upset and sad i come here and read poetry of others who go through the same as i. I submit my poems and feel gratidtude when it comes back with positive responses. But i am sorry if you charged money I can honestly say that I couldnt come back to visit anymore. $10 a month may not be that much, but for somebody like me who can only afford to put gas in my car and pay my bills it seems like a lifetime. I send my hugs and my blessings if thats what is decided but i will have to find a new site, which will end in dissapointment

| I think Mick does have a big heart for his site. I abosolutely love this site, I love all that it has to offer, I am not sure how long I have been posting my poetry on this site, but I have posted about 102 poems, and I love getting comments on them, who does not? Why do you think people submit poetry, etc on this site, they love the propaganda, they love the popularity but the reason I post my poetry on this site is because it is free, I never have much money, I could never come back if you were to charge money for posting my work, to me that would be like you are copyrighting it and takeing it away from. I would never have that, I love my poetry, I love my work, I have not written as long as some of the other users on this site, but let me tell you, I have been writing for three years and that is long enough to know how much my work means to me, if I had a little money here or there maybe even a dollar I would send it to the site, I do not want this place to close down, I absolutely love this site, and I love all of the users on, I love their work, I would miss it all. There are a lot of young people on this site we would lose if this became a pre-req
I would go as far as saying this site will go under if that is implemented because there seems to be a very young audience here.
If it becomes a pre-req which I doubt is feasible I think Mick should let those 21 and under in free and on income supports less than $1000 a month or handicapped in free. It's the only way this site would prosper any. |

I think we should all pitch in when we can Im a premium memeber now and will stay that way as long as the site stays here. Its a good idea at this point I believe to agree to pay some small amount and be premium members that will help alot. Plus clicking on the links provided also helps. This is going to be a hard row for the next while.If we pull together we can get it done.

I dont mind , giving 10 a month, but I am a college, student and have no credit cards. If, there is a way to send other than that or checks.then let me know how.
I do like writing on this site.......I have been on 1 other, yet this one is the best. I know some may think, 10 isnt that much , which it isnt.......So , if there is any possible way, of getting it posted for here, I am all for it. I never knew I could write till my best friend who use to write here, and y'all all knew him, told me about this site. I DO NOT want to lose any of my work.........alot I have on the pc.......saved, yet some times I come on, and bam..........I write, straight from my heart. So PLEASE, all try and figure a good way to keep..YPDC. Thanks,

Connie, I think it is a wonderful idea, but I don't think it would work because there are so many younger poets on here that have no income. The more poets you lose the more each member would have to donate. I am a premium member but we don't have enough of these to keep the site going. I do think for adults that each should donate monthly premium membership or not. I don't know any other place in life you get the best for nothing. We just have to beg the members to please help out. I have already sent my donation but will send another to help for the next few months. If each adult would send twice what they normally send that would help pay for yourself and a younger member. If we can get enough (NOTE THE WORD - ADULTS) to double their donation then we might be able to help Mick.
So would ALL the ADULTS on the site please send in your donations plus the extra for one other person. It is our responsibility to keep this site going, not Micks or some other adult, but each and EVERY one of us.

I'm sorry Connie. I don't agree.
I know that no matter what anyone says, I could not afford to pay every month. I pay what I can, and that will have to do.
But if this rule comes in, I will have to go, too.

Mick does a wonderful job running this site. But alas some cannot afford to pay for membership. The premium section is for those who pay. The ones that cannot do not have access to this. For those who can please do but for those on small incomes they cannot. It would be a shame not to be able to post and comment on such a beautiful site.
