Shrieking screams that penetrate
Eviscerated bodies lie at my feet
Entrails stink in steaming pools
Scrambled organs rot in slow decay
Bludgeoned bodies bloat under the dull sun
Ragged stab wounds that fester
Grinning skulls chuckle their malice
The sun is darkened by the carrion
Their shrieks beckon more to the feast
And express their sick delight
The living huddle inside
Mute with fear
Crippled by agitation
Rendered powerless by the stench
And the haunted screams of the dying
As the carrion peck at their eyes
Sadistic, their joyful cries
Fill your mind with visions of your children
Held down by carrion, their eyes
Picked brutally from their skulls
The wrinkled and withered
Lie in unholy communion in the street
Drained dry of blood
Their broken fingers point at the living
Accusingly as if in judgment,
But the carrion will find you
And your desecrated corpse
Will be added to the numberless dead,
But not before you are forced to bear witness
To the death of your children
Their weeping, empty eye sockets
Your last tormented vision

Wow Joel. Yikes Joel. Holy Crap Joel.
I really don't know what to say. I don't judge you for your darkness,
it's inside of me too. You brought it out in this poem with a controlled
strength and ... I don't know... like *WHAM* it hits me kind of writing.
Sorry I suck at just saying 'you're a good writer', cause you are a good writer.
Keep it up Joel, I'm rootin for ya (and praying for you)

Wow!!! Joel this was just creepy, you have an evil evil mind. I never knew you had it in you to creep me out.
This is just making my skin all tingle and it's dark outside too. I am so not gonna get some sleep tonight.

Wow is the word, Joel. I simply cant think of any other word to describe my reaction to this deeply dark, achingly described and superbly written poem.
Its stark and confronting and a immensly tortured write. It reveals a side of you I havent seen in your writing until now, and readers are all the more forntunate for discovering it.
Your poetry is always a pleasure to read, my friend.
