Grief

As blackness took my mind away My heart procured a sight I saw you there and heard you say Protect me from the night
And in my dream I turned to you And promised to be there I swore to hold, to help you through With all my strength and care
But knowing not I turn around Right when I should look back And you are torn down to the ground My presence, friend, you lack
At last I turn, alas, too late! The damage has been done I try to raise you from this state But now my help you shun
You look me in the eye and say: I needed you, To help me through, I needed you to hold me. For while your back was turned on me My soul was torn in two My friend in need You could not be My friend you never were.
I turn rejected by a friend My heart now also dead I swore to hold you to the end I turned my back instead

Wow, that does sound like a scary thing to wake up to.
Well done, this. I like the first line, as it conjures up an immediate image (a dark one), that leaves a sort of first impression through the rest. It's not usual. But it works well here.

Wow, I bet that scared the pants off of you. When was this dream? That'd be a hard thing to shake. Excellently laid out and very well illustrated. Just know that you're very unlikely to ever let that happen to anyone you hold dear.

When we dream dark dreams it is our subconscious dealing with something that is bothering us and usually comes out in a nightmarish-type of dream. Does not mean it will happen, just means you had something heavy weighing on your mind. We all dream, whether we remember it or not. Without dreams we would all lose our sanity. Just your subconscious releasing emotional stress. Rita |

Gripping, chilling and truly frightening. I hope it's not a recurring dream; I hope it doesn't come true in any sense, either.
Love and peace,

Wow! Everyday life expressed in simple verse. I hope you will be forgiven jus as I hope I will. I have been both sides of this poem the hurt and the hurtee. I hope I will be the friend in the future. |

Nightmares that leave you shaking and questioning reality are the worst. I've often wished I had written my imediate thoughts after having one, but I never do. Good job. |

To have a dream like this I think means that you have something heavy weighing u down. Although I'm getting to know u I think that you'd never ever turn your back to a friend in need. You've obviously got alot going on in ur mind. I hope these nightmares are not reoccuring. May ur heart and mind be erased of such vivid images. The answer is found deep within u my dear friend.
*hugs* from ur fan,
Sue |

Great poem. Love the dream setting - reminds me somewhat of Orpheus. Eurydice. Hermes. |
