making a slowdance

Contributed by emokid on Sunday, 14th August 2005 @ 06:41:19 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I’ll make this a slow dance--------for the memories of me and you
stay up until two--------drinking coffee for remembrance
I’ll save my last dance ----------for the memories of you
I can only hope --------you would say the same

Our lives have gone --------their separate ways
I know how much --------you love a slow song
so I’ll write you one--------to let you know
that I still care

Line by line--------I’m trying to get this right
to capture the light--------in your eyes and the way you
smile when I say your name--------so remember the times I was sober
cause now I’m older--------and understand why you left
so just promise me a slow dance

Our lives have gone --------their separate ways
I know how much --------you love a slow song
so I’ll write you one--------to let you know
that I still care

I heard it from a friend--------that this will eventually heal
with time, but I needed it yesterday---------so I guess you could say
this is my way of saying sorry--------there’s one last thing
I got to know--------do I ever cross your mind?

Our lives have gone --------their separate ways
I know how much --------you love a slow song
so I’ll write you one--------to let you know
that I still care

Let me ask one last thing from you---------when you hear this on the radio
I want you to sing along--------and blare it loud
remember me for what I’m worth---------which I know isn’t much
now all that’s left --------is my slow dance with you

Our lives have gone --------their separate ways
I know how much ---------you love a slow song
so I’ll write you one---------to let you know
that I still care

A wonderful write, I loved it, the words I'm back drew me to the poem, so I had to read it, welcome back Emokid, and what a start. SLipSiX.
