Seeping through the edges Torn and beyond repair Love leaks out emotionally Pain this heart shall bare
Cruel intentions fuelled Firing far within It shall never love For that would be a sin
Damaged and bruised Sacrificed at the core Raptured to pieces Excruciating pain once more
How does one overcome Circling ripples within the heart? How do you stop it From sharding and falling apart?
Convinced that all is lost Tainted visions embedded Deep inside this heart Love eventually died and ended
A sad twisted story Etched deep into the veins Gripping melancholy Thriving anguish reigns
Sadness lingers solemnly Solace it'll never find As stealth grows significantly In a heart of this kind
Be assured that grief Has ventured its way For this very blackened heart Sang its own elegy this day...

beautiful in its sadness. you ask how it overcomes the pain? Its hard but it will overcome. Heartstrings pull but wont break though they feel like they will.

Wow...I would clap, but it seems inappropriate for such a saddened piece. I can't even tell you how much this grabbed me...It's like you've put my thoughts on paper. This is a solid, excellent write through and through...your expression is chilling, this is probably my favourite by you so far. The first line drew me right in, and the ending was killer! The sixth stanza really stood out for me too...Take a bow Sue; you have done exceptionally well with this write, and I hope writing it out helps heal your soul...Take Care.

Beautifully chosen words to describe a broken heart..
I especially liked how you asked a question for your torn heart beyond repair..
*****How does one overcome
Circling ripples within the heart?
How do you stop it
From sharding and falling apart?
Here is a poem to lift your spirits.. maybe it will help..
How To Be Happy
Are you almost disgusted with life, little man?
I'll tell you a wonderful trick
That will bring you contentment, if anything can
Do something for somebody, quick!
Are you awfully tired with play, little girl?
Wearied, discouraged, and sick--
I'll tell you the loveliest game in the world,
Do something for somebody quick!
Though it rains, like the rain of the flood, little man,
And the clouds are forbidding and thick,
You can make the sun shine in your soul, little man,
Do something for somebody, quick!
Though the stars are like brass overhead, little girl,
And the walks like a well-heated brick,
And our earthly affairs in a terrible whirl,
Do something for somebody quick!
Author unknown
*****Sang its own elegy this day...
Yes, it may seem the heart is dead.. but it is singing its own tune.. hang in there.. the heart is strong.. if it wasn't, I know for sure, I would have been off this earth long ago...
Wonderful write.. I love your word strength for a most grieving heart..
Beautifully written to explain the pain..

Hauntingly sad from beginning to end. Heartfelt emotion underlies your every word. A broken heart is not beautiful to behold.
But nevertheless a very beautiful poem.

The beauty of grief is that it fills your heart with words that the tongue longs to speak, but can't. It's beautiful because your pen knows these words. Beautiful sadness. May your heart find peace.
Take care.

The commenters above said it all before me.
Hauntingly beautiful and sad.
Indeed it is grief that brings the best out in us.
Grief is indispensible,
Imagine a painting whose author does not know both, grief and joy, - his canvass would reflect only flatness, no matter his technical skill.
Hearts need to be broken the spiritual writers insist, to be transformed - some call it "the Dark Night of the Soul" - not to be shunned,
I also enjoyed the anonymous verse cited by Rachel Leah, that poet knew what he was saying.
This is a marvellous write Sue!
Thanks a lot for sharing it with us.
Blessings
Elizabeth |
