Silent reckoning

Contributed by wordsy on Tuesday, 14th January 2003 @ 05:50:00 PM in AEST
Topic: mystical

Your temperature rises
as your fever burns on
and you hurt real bad
all the way to the bone
And the pain you feel
way deep down inside
just won't go away
it won't be denied
And just when you feel
like this is the end
The tears start to fall
and the crying begins
Then you beg and you plead
and you scream and you shout
then your mind starts to fill
with the dread and the doubt
And you start to wonder
as the tears fills your eyes
if this is how it feels
when somebody dies
Then you pray to God
to lend a hand
to help you out
and do what he can
As you sit there and cry
the hurt goes on
While you groan and you grumble
an you whine and you moan
And you just want the hurt
to please go away
As you try and make it
to the end of the day
And just when you feel
like you can't go on
when you reach for your breath
and suddenly it's gone
And all to once the lights go out
and you feel as though you're floating about
And the life you've lived
is right before your eyes
Strung out before you
are all of your lies
An account is taken
as you pass beyond
to find yourself treading
on heavenly lawn
And all of your dreams
could never compare
to all of the wonder
you'll find there

How can such a wonderful poem go unread and uncommented on? A very moving write! Well done!
