In the battle

Contributed by Archie on Friday, 16th September 2005 @ 12:55:12 PM in AEST
Topic: spiritual

I hear the explosions all around me
I wonder if i will make it
I see fellow soldiers drop to their knees
as the flaming arrows pierce them

A friend got pierced by the arrow of anger
she shouted and she cursed and forgot who she was
A voice within me said to go pull out the arrow
I doubted and wondered if I could

I see the buildings crumble around the city
a sharp and acute pain stings inside of me
a sword of fear thrust into my tender heart
I hope someone will pull it out of me

I stagger to my sister pulling out the arrow
I parry attacks of pride with my trusty shield
I pick my sister up and tell her to have courage
I look around and see the battle around me

Agony from selfishness
people drowning in their lust and in their greed
Agony driven by fear
"Is there anybody out there who cares about me"

I strike an arrow that is heading toward my brother
it is the arrow of death and loneliness
I parry the sword that says "I'll say tomorrow
the things that I should say that show the battles near"

The sirens sweep down beating wings of blackened blood
carrying arrows that kill off joy and love
They laugh and cackle that there are so very few
to drive them off back to the place that they come from

Help me they cry help me
crying out in pain from the arrows that pierce them
Help me they cry help me
Is there someone out there listening

The sky is blackened with the beating wings of sirens
their voices drawing everyone unto his death
The arrows pierce the heart and trap us in our sorrow
or pierce us with pride so that we will not care

If you think that you are someone then you must be careful
You started out as nothing and that is what saved you
If you think that you learned something do not keep it inside you
for you can help someone who is trapped in suffering

Liked what the last four lines says, rest of it felt rather dull.

Hmm. I didn't find the "rest of it" dull at all, actually slightly preferred it.

Very vivid, and yes, I'm indeed in battle, and it's a tough struggle sometimes. At least the banner over us is Love.
