Acceptance
Like the wispy branches of the willow tree My once firm beliefs have bent with the wind The feelings once strong now set free My heart feeling bruised and skinned
Grasping as a drowning soul to any lifeboat Once feeling so smug with my perceptions Now accepting this passing note My life has been filled with misconceptions
Opinions I felt and expressed freely Judgments were made, conclusions met With intent to benefit others ideally Though evidence of such is not seen yet
Unkind words sensed and spoken Seeing my life through rose colored glasses Painfully yet silently hearts were broken Time ticking by as each day passes
So with deep sadness yet joy I release these dreams Acceptance comes at a seemingly high cost From deep within me come silent screams Of many years so quietly and unknowingly lost
For life is not about beliefs at all To set the soul free I must release my mind Of each slight, hurt, fear, no matter how small Shut it all down unshackle the ties that bind
Live my life filled with unconditional love Find the power deep within my soul In peoples no longer push, pull and shove Inner peace is now an attained goal.
