A Deadly Obsession
You said youd quit,
You promised you would
You said it was over
That everything was good.
And it was for a while
You did actually quit
But when things got bad,
You went right back to it
An obsession, a need
Youre addicted, you are hooked
Its impossible to stop
And now just you look
Youre hurting yourself
Your family, your friends
Your fear and your anger
Are bringing nearer your end
I was here for you alwawys
If you had just stopped to see
You hurt yourself, yes,
But just look at me.
Because of your pain
Because of your need
Your choosing your death
To set yourself free.
You were selfish, my friend
You only cared for yourself
You hid from the world
And you sought nothing to help.
I tried to persuade you
I tried to make you see
That the path you were choosing
Was also hurting me
I dont know how to help
I dont know what to say
I hope you do get better
Now all I can do is pray
Dear God, the Almighty
This to you I pray
Help me Lord Jesus
Tell me please what to say
I dont know how to help her
I want to run and cry
But I just cant let her go Lord
Im afraid shes gonna die.
There has to be a way Lord
To stop her bitter end
Help me please dear Savior,
Help me be her friend.
