Spectre

I thought I had rid myself of you.
You are but a ghost to me now.
Yet, you are not transparent,
and your words still resonate.
Your touch still bears a mark.
My hopes of never seeing you again...
Crushed...
Like every other dream I've had.
Your hatred has stagnated
Within your soul.
But that stagnant, arid heart
Taught me how to trully love.
I am in awe of you
the same way a deer is in awe of his hunter,
Or a weakling in awe of his enemy.
Until you slay me, I will love you.
If only to spite you.

I'm glad you broke my heart
Because the person who helped
to mend it, is real.
He is not a ghost.
His heart is transparent to my understanding,
His words rush through my mind
as a cool breeze.
His touch only bears a mark on my heart.

My hopes are now being acheived,
because this man trully loves me.
He has taught me to love anew.
He defended me from my own stagnant heart.
He found me becasue I was not looking for him.

I hope you can find someone
Who can replenish your soul
Who can bring life back to your heart.
For as far as I can tell,
You are still a ghost,
Despite the air you breathe,
or the ground you may tread on.
You are but a ghost,
And ghosts are only real to those who believe.
And I stopped believing long ago.

I definitely enjoyed reading this. Emotion is embodied well by your words. Keep it up.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
