Lord teach us

Topic: InspirationalPoems

When those people drive slow before us
We often think they should take a bus
While our tempers rise and we honk our horn
Anger escalates -- hatefule words are born!

When our children only seem to disobey
They shun their chores -- they just want to go and play
While our tempers rise -- we yell and tear down
Anger escalates -- hateful words abound

Lord, teach us how to love
Give us the love from above!

When our wives or husbands are gone too much
Homes filled by silence - so where is love's touch
While our tempers rise and disagreements are strong
Anger escalates -- hateful words go on and on

When the world's demands are too many to meet
Pressures are heavy -- competitor's compete
While our tempers rise cuz we can't have it all
Anger escalates, cuz our incomes are small.

Lord, teach us how to love
Give us the love from above!

Maybe it's time to look at God above
And realize that all we need is His love
Give Him our tempers and watch what He'll do
Repent all shortcomings -- His peace will sooth!

The people who drive slow were created by Him
Disobedient children need God's love within
Wives or husbands need His love and each other's trust
What the world offers -- surely that can't be a must!

Lord, teach us how to love
Give usthe love from above!

Look at Jesus and His life that He lived
People came to Him -- He was attentive
His temper never rose, because people were slow
His words never tore down -- and His love would just flow

He even died on the cross for our sin
In hopes that we'd open our hearts to Him
He arose from the dead -- that's victory for us
That gave us eternity with Him -- What a Plus!!!

Lord, teach us how to love
Give us the love from above!

So seek Him, Yes, seek Him -- that's all I can say
Let people drive slow -- just get out of their way
Spend time with your children - talk and listen to them
Husbands and wives talk to each other -- time will mend

When you include Jesus as a part of your life
Then the world's demands will fade and so will the strife
Just keep your eyes seeking what God has above
Then His Spirit will lead you with peace and with love.

Lord, teach us how to love
Give us the love from above!

This was good. I like the point you reached in your poem.

(Jesus did get mad at some people but most of the time he was just like you said - In his anger he never sinned)

Yes, our focus does get off track, and we pray for Him to always bring us back.

Lord, teach us how to love
Give us the love from above!

Thank you for this most loved poem Linda. Even if it takes years for one to learn this lesson in life, it will be the most greatest lesson of all. God has time to wait for all of us to reach Him. We like to say, in our own time, but sometimes, we may not have in our own time, because when He calls us, and we do not know when, it is wonderful to keep teaching His teachings, so that all will not be left out. Keep writing these poems, even if you receive no comments, there still will be those readers who will benefit by your writings. I can never learn too much, you teach me so much Linda. And, you have this wonderful gift to show us, by reminding us of the lifestyles in the world. Raquel Leah
