As she sits in her room and cries, She wonders why hes not there. Her father, her Daddy, her hero, She sits there telling herself he cares.
He left when she was five, She was Daddys little girl. She told herself He loves me Im Daddys golden pearl.
Visits got shorter, And came after long periods of time. She told herself Hes busy, My Daddys done no crime.
As shes celebrating her 7th birthday, Hes nowhere to be seen Her sisters are saying he doesnt care She just tells them theyre mean
Shed cry herself to sleep Her teddys shed hold tight. She told herself hed come home soon It may be tomorrow he just might.
By now shes nine Getting smarter by the day. She asks herself Why isnt Daddy here? Oh thats right My daddy moved away.
Shes now 13 nearly 14. Now shes telling herself My Daddy dont care. She asks herself why, She answers with, My Daddys never there.
This young ladies all grown up, Over her dad she wont cry. Shes wiser and stronger, This little iron butterfly.
