The Act

Contributed by Tru2Myself on Friday, 7th October 2005 @ 11:36:37 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Waking up, I tell myself that Im okay
Just as I to every morning of every day
Convince myself that I will move on
Trying not to seem withdrawn
Go to school and put on an act
No one knows the truth, so they do not react
Persuading words leak from my mind
Reminding me to avoid being left behind
Everyone seems to be moving forward
One the train to the future they all board
While I am left stuck in the past
With faded dreams that didnt last
All the unwanted memories haunt me
Filling me with pain and misery
I must find a way to forget this
But I dont think a solution exists

So I close my eyes and lie again
It is the only way my heart will mend
Tell myself I will love once more
I just cant take the truth like before
Dont remind me that this could be wrong
Its the only way I can remain strong
Build up my hopes and live in a dream
Life isnt as easy as it seems
But I put on a smile and convince you its real
To you, the truth, I will never reveal
Convincing lies bleed from my lips
I hope the truth never slips
But if all hope does die
If I break down and cry
You wont have anything to say
Because you never knew that I felt this way
I hide it well dont I?

If you build a wall around yourself it will fall
If you build an army a bigger one will lay seige to your city
The waves wash away our meager walls and who we are will be revealed
it will either strengthen us
or it will destroy us
I know this because it happened to me.

Your poem inspired these words
I think you were very honest. Thank you

I am going through something so similiar its scary reading your poem, because it describes EXACTLY how I am feeling right now. Very well written, couldn't have said it better.

Every one of us will always live in past, its just an illusion that the 'others' are boarding a train to the future. Memories are only thing real for they are the things that have happened for sure. We are nothing but all the memories put togather, its just not right to give more credit to bad ones. A good poem like this could only be created by someone who has a lot of good memories too.

well now i see that i wasnt the only person that spoke lies to others to hide stuff i still do or what not but you do get tired of not being you and you will never go forward if you live in the past ..... but this is a very well written poem and dont think i could have done it better myself !
