You have always been there for me
Rain or shine
You held my hand when I was scared
Cared for me when I was sick
You were always there
When I'd have bad days
You were always there to listen to me
And to give advice wanted or not
You let me make the best decisions for me
You were always there for me
When I needed a shoulder to cry on or lean on or both
Every day when I came through the door you had a warm meal waiting
And every night a book before bed time
And a hug and kiss goodnight
You were always there
Now I'm married with kids of my very own
And I hope to always be there for my children
The way you've always been there for me
You were always there
