I wish I could hold you
deep in my arms
and finally find the reason
why I'm here.
I wish I could dry my tears
on your old carhart jacket
and kiss my cares away.
I wish she wasn't in the picture
so you would have me
all to yourself
but she won, and I am all alone.
I wish I could ride in your old ford
and scream out of your back window
how much I loved you
but I can't
because she says it now
in tainted whispers.
I wish I could bury
my pain in you
but that's her job now
as you are just a memory,
an old discarded photo
from my past,
and you will never know
how much you really meant to me.
You had a chance
but blew it on someone else
and I kind of wonder
if the tables were turned
would you have picked me
instead of her all along?
