Through the deep dark eyes of my son I can see the golden sun Rising up Bringing warmth Through a brilliant smile Wiping away darkness The dew drops evaporate LIfe is awake The dawn chorus begins Acknowleging HIm, The King The day breaks The day begins Today's the day of reckoning Today's the day of remembering The sunlight kisses my face The world is still spinning The clocks hands refuse to rest The sun shall rise The sun shall set I hope I remember I hope I forget Do I know any regrets?
Through the deep dark brown eyes of my son I can see the brilliant sun Rising up.

Well, the concept is simple, but it works. The visuals I got from your words was worth the read...
I like the positive ending, and these three lines just spoke volumes to me:
I hope I remember
I hope I forget
Do I know any regrets?
Nice job!
