Oversoul

Contributed by Freak-of-the-Week on Tuesday, 18th October 2005 @ 09:50:59 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

We're born beneath furnace fire,
Hammers carve us from mire
As the cool air of time molds our skin.
Against our burning souls, churning,
So unlearned, yet we're learning,
As the forge of life shapes us within.
Doleful fathers and sad mothers,
Plow our minds, as do others,
And plant human codes in our thought.
Once they bloom, we're now stable,
Innocence, a torn cable --
Set on earth, a mere fable He wrought.

Words so true. Sad that it seems to be the norm of living these days. I call it the human condition. Me, well mmmm I dont conform thats why Im always in trouble one place or another. Call me spit fire or the rebel without a cause but hey Im always plain and simply me with my own opinion and I do what I do.
Great write!

Michelle

an engaging read.
Well thought out and executed...smooth rhyme scheme and imagery.
I can understand how you have come to this conclusion...I, too, have argued the same concepts. Yet within these notions there is a glint of belief. Atheism is a belief in itself. Although, I still agree...that one is influenced by his own immediate environments and exposures...nonetheless, one is more of a human with control over them, thus moreso mindful.
Thank you for perking my interest!

Oh, my Gosh! How can I respond with less than a million words...Attachment Theory, actually, no longer theory, has pretty well established that by age 3, your path is determined...attachment experiences determine an infant/toddlers perception of the world and themselves...this perception determines "Self-"image...this image of "Self" is what relationships are made of...be they relationships with ideas, religious establishments, organizations, people, animals, plants or rocks...who provides the attachment experiences...our childhood caregivers...only serendipitous experience has a chance of influencing the falling oak...

Yeah! You're right, alright.

In Dylan's, Time Out of Mind cd, he sings, "I was born here and I'll die here...against my will..."

Oh, well...as long as I'm here and I've got some time left, think I'll put my energies into having a good time...

gotta go...

blessings,

enigma...ron

i love the title and the poem

together both are full of irony

leaving one in thought and suspended

in the struggle and pain of search and doubt

really good

This is a really entising piece. I've dealt with similar social ills in several of my poems and this is a topic very close to my heart.
The constant suffocation of one's sole by those closest to you is a daily battle in my life, and I must really fight to keep myself ME.
Thanks for writing this.

Love Ya
Ash~
