Brick By Brick

Contributed by poetic_influence on Monday, 7th November 2005 @ 11:51:05 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

I cannot write on clean paper,
The words shy away from the page
I cannot smile and stand aside
As joy and pain take center-stage
It's hard to retrace a lonely stroll
It's hard to write a letter that's sealed
Sealed and blank, I've sent a letter
And only my weakness has been revealed
Afraid to speak my mind
Only my silence touched the page
"A whole wall of silence"
This wall you cannot see
Results from what has been done to me
A page left empty
A story untold
I know this process will be slow
For its never easy to let these things go
See... brick by brick I built this wall
I made it so thick to assure that it will not fall
But now no weapon nor bomb can tear it down
Looking
I see no one to save me around
But him
Brick by brick I built this wall
So I cannot see him, Yet I hear his voice call
Afraid
This wall has kept me safe
I must be crazy to think of letting him invade
Maybe just for now
We'll see
Together "You & Me"
You could never hurt me "Right?"
So give in and once again I feel strong
And brick by brick this wall will break
As love replaces every ache
This wall has fallen and I am free
But some of the debris is still
Very deep inside the wall of me
